Electric is fully internationalized, which means that it can be translated into other languages.
To date, only the C version has been translated, and only into French.
The source code download comes with translations that are correct as of the date of the release.
However, corrections to these translations may be available, and can be downloaded here.
In the table below, if the "Need Download?" is "NO", then you do not need to download these translations,
because they are unchanged since the distribution.
If "Need Download?" is "YES", then click on the links below to get the latest translations:
There are two versions of the translations, because the Macintosh uses a different encoding. The "text" files have the original and translated strings. The "binary" files end in ".mo" and are precompiled to run with Electric. It is not necessary to download the text files, unless you wish to do further translation or correction. Once downloaded, find Electric's "lib" directory. Inside of it is a directory called "international", and inside of that is a folder for each language (French is "fr"). Finally, inside the language's folder is another called "LC_MESSAGES". Place the downloaded files in this folder, overwriting the ones that are there.
The Electric User's Manual has been translated into these languages:
To help spread the word about Electric, front-pages have been created in different languages.
Each front page describes Electric briefly and then points the user to the main Static Free Software page,
noting that the rest of the website is in English.
For those interested in doing a translation, please translate this page.
I already have translations in the following languages (thanks to all contributors):
